Potash minerals have their own process characteristics compared to other general minerals:

Carnallite

Carnallite

(1) Has solubility: Potassium minerals are mostly soluble in water and are more soluble than other salt minerals. Therefore, when it forms a deposit, more favorable conditions are needed. After formation, it may be dissolved or converted into a potassium-free mineral by the influence of surface water or groundwater. In mining and utilization, special measures must also be taken to fully take into account this characteristic of potash mines.

(2) variability: Potassium minerals are prone to change. During mineralization, the influence of surface water or groundwater with different concentrations or different components, or the influence of temperature changes, may change them from one mineral to another. Minerals, which is one of the reasons for the complex mineral composition of potash deposits. This kind of easy-to-change characteristics, of course, also raises issues that require special attention for the exploitation and utilization of potash mines. Factors such as changes in temperature, changes in the composition of the mother liquor, changes in the amount of water brought in, etc., have their particularities.

(3) Similarity: The physical properties of the potassium salt minerals are very similar to each other, the density is less than 3 g/cm, the hardness is less than 4, and the colors are similar. Therefore, it is difficult to visually identify.

(4) It is hygroscopic, and most of the potassium salt minerals have a certain hygroscopicity and are easily deliquescent. This feature is true whether the raw ore is produced or the finished product is processed. Therefore, in the process of transportation, storage, etc., it is necessary to have moisture-proof and anti-caking measures. The main potassium minerals, according to the degree of hygroscopic decline, can be arranged as follows, carnallite, anhydrous potassium magnesium strontium, potassium magnesium strontium, potassium salt.

(5) Complexity of composition: Potassium minerals are often symbiotic with stone salts when forming mineral deposits. Sometimes the content of rock salt often exceeds the content of potassium salt; secondly, it contains some impurities such as sulfates, carbonates and clay. Therefore, when processing and utilizing, it brings certain difficulties to the separation, resulting in complicated process flow and affected product quality.
